MALI: Medical Aid, Lasting Impact, (also known as Mali Medics) is a charitable society established and run by doctors and medical students at St George’s Hospital Medical School, part of the University of London. The society is helping to send teams of doctors, surgeons, medicines and medical equipment to Mali, one of the most acutely deprived countries in Africa.
The first medical teams to visit Mali are scheduled to make their inaugural trip from London in July 2009, travelling overland in field ambulances packed with enthusiastic and qualified medical staff, vital medicines and much needed equipment. Once in Mali, clinics will be established, routine surgery for serious but easily corrected health problems can be performed and medicines will be distributed. This year the team will be concentrating on operating on a condition called obstetric fistula, or fistula.
By giving to MALI you can be sure that medical aid will reach the people and places where it’s most needed, and you can play a role in securing the future of an ongoing and sustainable healthcare project.
